Lose yourself in a world beyond your wildest dreams…

Since 1996, Finder has set the bar for science–fiction storytelling, with a lush, intricate world and compelling characters. Now, Dark Horse is proud to present Carla Speed McNeil’s groundbreaking series in two affordably priced volumes!

Finder Library Volume 1

The following summaries are organized by story arc. “Sin-Eater,” “King of the Cats,” and “Talisman” are all collected in Finder Library Volume 1.

SIN-EATER

“It’s a delicate matter when one of your own goes so bad, so fast.”

Jaeger returns to Emma, an old girlfriend; meanwhile, Brigham, Emma’s ex-husband and Jaeger’s former commanding officer, has been released from prison, and Jaeger finds himself in the delicate position of running interference between Emma and Brigham, who, it becomes increasingly clear, is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

KING OF THE CATS

After taking what appears to be a routine guard job on a caravan, Jaeger finds himself stranded at Munkytown, a bizarre city-cum-theme-park, brokering a precarious treaty between the Ascians and the local Nyima—who are themselves thrown into chaos by the death of their king.

TALISMAN

“The greatest gift I ever had taken away from me was a book.”

When Marcie was a little kid, her most beloved possession was a book given to her by Jaeger. Lost before she could learn to read, the book became an obsession, a totem in Marcie’s quest to recapture its lost stories—and create her own.

Finder Library Volume 2

Volume 2 collects the multiple Eisner Award-nominated story arcs “Dream Sequence,” “The Rescuers,” “Mystery Date,” and “Five Crazy Women” and will be available in September 2011 from Dark Horse Books.

The following summaries are organized by story arc.

DREAM SEQUENCE

In the head of a man named Magri White blossoms a world more vividly real than reality. Elsewhere is an entity of its own, a collective universe where city dwellers flee from their workaday lives. But now, something new and terrible stalks the forests and fields of Elsewhere—something neither brought in by the tourists nor invoked by Magri—destroying everything and everyone in its path.

THE RESCUERS

“Kidnapping for money is a game only the big families can afford to play. Even cops are so used to it, they forget that even on the beaten path things go wrong. . . .”

What’s an honest cop to do in a city where kidnapping is so commonplace it’s almost legal? When a baron’s infant son goes missing, Detective Smithson turns to a Finder for help—and finds that there’s a wide berth between answers and solutions.

MYSTERY DATE

Vary Krishna is a college student studying to be a prostitute and juggling crushes on two anthropology professors—one is a cranky political refugee from Javecek; the other has four legs and feathers.

FIVE CRAZY WOMEN

“Well, hell, none of ’em look crazy when I meet them!”

Jaeger Ayers is never homeless as long as there are smart women willing to make foolish choices. Make some popcorn and put up your feet—and remember, the worse it gets, the better the story it’ll make in the morning.

VOICE

Voice is a Finder original graphic novel by Carla Speed McNeil and available to order now.

Rachel Grosvenor has grown up straddling worlds. The daughter of a Medawar father and a Llaverac mother, half raised by her mother’s nomadic lover, Rachel has fought her way through a grueling contest for admittance to the Llaverac clan. But just as her social ascent seems inevitable—and her family’s future secure—the theft of an indispensable heirloom sends her spiraling into the dark underbelly of Anvard and a paradox that holds the key to her future: How do you find a Finder?

That is a great idea, Carla. Have you seen what the royalties are like for ebooks?

Got my Finder Library vol 1 and was comparing it to the original TPBs and the Sin-Eater HC–was wondering: will the Counting Coup story be reprinted in a future Library volume?

I was all set to give my original TPBs away, but I don’t want to lose that story (or the beautiful line-art gallery in Sin-Eater 1).
