JAEGER
“I have a disease. At least that’s what I think it is. Seems like, every time I find a place to settle, back it comes, all smiley. And it gets worse and worse until I get moving and stir some more shit up. . . .
“I can handle anything except peace and quiet.”—Finder: Sin-Eater (Collected in Finder Library Volume 1)
Jaeger is a Finder (an aboriginal detective) and a sin-eater (a ritual scapegoat). Half-Ascian, raised by his white father—a rare free man in a town where most of the citizens were company property—Jaeger learned to fight early, and didn’t stop until his fists landed him first in prison, and then in the army.
Jaeger can heal uncannily quickly from even catastrophic injuries, but gets badly sick if he spends too long in one place or without getting hurt. He stays on the move most of the time, mooching off girlfriends and picking up odd jobs under the table—breaking legs, delivering packages, and generally cleaning up other people’s messes.
